ORMAT TECHNOLOGIES

ORMAT, a leading international renewable energy company based in Reno, has transformed its new 45,000-square-foot headquarters into a modern and sustainable workspace. This project reflects ORMAT’s commitment to innovation and creativity while accommodating its evolving operational needs.

The design features a flexible layout centered around the “Heart,” a main corridor that connects public and employee spaces, effectively dividing the office into two functional wings. This layout fosters collaboration through communal zones known as “Workshops,” while conference areas incorporate operable walls, allowing for dynamic reconfiguration as needed.

The project included a complete renovation of the building’s entryway, replacing an outdated vestibule with a contemporary entrance that enhances visual appeal. Decorative perforated metal screens were added to modernize the exterior and provide shade, complemented by a fresh paint job that revitalizes the building’s look. Backlit signage at both public and employee entrances reinforces ORMAT’s brand identity.

To enhance navigation within the expansive open space, unique ceiling treatments were strategically integrated to define distinct zones. These treatments guide circulation paths, distinguishing between open workstations and collaborative areas, promoting a sense of order and purpose. Modular partition systems create adaptable environments, allowing for the quick reconfiguration of workspaces to meet varying departmental needs, while enclosed “islands” of private offices provide necessary visual separation.

Emphasizing sustainability, the project utilized modular wall systems designed through Digital Component Construction, which minimizes waste and emissions. These walls are designed for disassembly, promoting reuse at the end of their lifecycle. Custom moss walls and live plantings enhance the biophilic design, creating a connection to nature. Additionally, acoustic wall panels made from recycled materials improve sound absorption, contributing to a comfortable work environment.

The completed ORMAT headquarters stands as a testament to innovative design, sustainability, and employee well-being. This project successfully embodies the values of ORMAT, creating a vibrant and adaptable workspace that fosters collaboration and reflects the company’s mission in the renewable energy sector.
